Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary gifts Plattsburgh City Beach with Beach accessibility options

The Sunrise Rotary Club of Plattsburgh is proud to announce the gift of beach wheelchairs and accessibility mats to Plattsburgh City Beach. These new additions will make it easier for people with disabilities, mobility issues, seniors, and veterans to enjoy the beach and the surrounding area.

Riverwalk Mid Construction Update

The City’s Riverwalk project kicked off at the beginning of May and is well underway with substantial completion of construction expected in late September 2023.  The City’s general contractor for the project is Luck Brothers, Inc. and the construction cost is just over $1.6 million.

Parks Come Alive! returns to Melissa Penfield Park on July 13th!

The Parks Come Alive! Event series is back on Thursday July 13th from 4:30-7:30PM at Melissa Penfield Park. The event will feature local food, drinks, music and activities for kids- all set in Plattsburgh’s city parks. 

City of Plattsburgh will double road resurfacing plans for summer 2023

Plattsburgh Mayor Christopher Rosenquest Elected Second Vice President of the New York State Conference of Mayors

On May 18, 2023, at the Annual Meeting of the New York State Conference of Mayors, the NYCOM membership unanimously elected Christopher Rosenquest, Mayor of the City of Plattsburgh, to serve as the organization’s Second Vice President for the coming year.

City and YMCA Develop Partnership for Sports Programming

At the Common Council meeting on Thursday May 4th, Council voted to approve a partnership where the City of Plattsburgh will pay for the registration fees for City youth under the age of 12 to participate in YMCA sports programming, starting in Fall 2023.

City Closes Fiscal Year 2022 with a Surplus

The City of Plattsburgh has closed out the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) with a surplus of $205k surplus, bringing the fund balance to nearly $6.2m.

Riverwalk Construction will begin May 1st

Construction will begin on Monday May 1st to complete the Saranac Riverwalk (Riverwalk) which will be built atop the western bank of the Saranac River between Bridge Street and Broad Street and will end at the intersection of Durkee Street and Broad Street near the current terminus of the Saranac River Trail.

After months of negotiation, the City of Plattsburgh Mayor’s office and the Plattsburgh Professional Firefighters Local 2421 have reached a tentative four-year labor agreement.
