May was a month defined by service beyond the badge. From honoring the fallen at the National Police Week Vigil in Washington, D.C., to standing alongside veterans at the Honor Flight Ceremony and participating in Plattsburgh’s Memorial Day Parade, our officers carried the weight of remembrance with pride. In the community, they cheered on young athletes at Little League, celebrated the arts with Plattsburgh High School students, championed inclusion at the Autism Walk and Special Olympics fundraiser, and worked to keep families safe and informed at the Safe and Sound event. Each appearance was a reminder that policing is not just a profession — it is a commitment to the people we serve.
Whether you ride a traditional bike or an e-bike, safety starts before you leave the driveway. Always wear a properly fitted helmet, use front and rear lights after dark, and follow all traffic laws — bikes and e-bikes are subject to the same rules of the road as motor vehicles. In Plattsburgh, e-bikes are not permitted on sidewalks. Lock your bike when unattended using a quality U-lock, and register it with the department to aid recovery if stolen. Join us June 23rd at the Old Farmers Market on Durkee St for our Community Bike & E-Bike Forum to learn more.
