We thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

FROM MAYOR READ:

Dear Residents,

I thank you for your patience as we work to protect you and the public from Coronavirus catching hold in our community. With the rate of infection doubling every couple of days elsewhere in this state with the largest incidence rate in the country, I am determined to not have that happen here in the City. With a quarter of the county’s population and more than six hundred times the population density of the rest of the county, the City is where we can stop the pandemic from killing people in our region.

We do so by minimizing in-person social contact and maximizing the delivery of first response and medical treatment by our professional crews. We’ve put a second ambulance in service and have ensured our firehall and police station is fully staffed and on 24/7 call.

We have also figured out ways to ensure our water and water distribution network remains safe, and our wastewater continues to be processed. Our high voltage wires will continue to be maintained through any sort of natural disaster.

We will continue to provide for our other services as well. Some highly discretionary services such as brush pickup may be delayed because of staff shortages. But, most of our services will continue or will be delivered online.

Accompanying this note is information on how to pay your bills online. For credit card transactions, we have recently lowered the fee to make it more affordable, and we created a no-fee bank autodebit feature to take all the hassle out of bill paying. We really prefer you to do as much as you can online. If you insist on doing things in person, please make an appointment with the various departments and they will accommodate you at a mutually convenient time.

All the other business, from council and board meetings, to permits and inspections, can still be performed, but always with your safety in mind. Please work with me to find the best way that works for you and keeps us all safe.

I thank you for your help and apologize for the inconvenience,

Best wishes,

Colin Read

Mayor of the City of Plattsburgh

The auto-pay feature is available for making monthly, direct debit Utility Bill payments from your bank account of choice.

Selecting the Utility Billing Files tab at the right moves you to a sign-in screen for entering your account number and customer ID. That takes you to the search results screen for your account where you can select Manage Bills to the right. At the top of the Managed Bills screen, a link labeled Sign-up for Automatic Payments will allow you to enter your bank account information that will be encrypted for security purposes. From that time forward, all future Utility Bills will be created as automatic payment bills and payment will be deducted directly from your bank account on the bill due date each month.

Individual online Property Tax and Utility Bill payments can be made by using the City of Plattsburgh Real Property Tax Files tab or the Utility Billing Files tab located in the menu at the right.

The shopping cart feature is functional for making a payment by credit card or e-check for either type of bill.

Online tax data is not intended to replace the City Chamberlain or City Assessor official records. Tax records may not reflect un-posted payments, changes in ownership, omitted taxes or other unknown events. In order to make full payment, use the total amount listed for each tax bill which includes the tax and any interest, fees or penalties. Online payments made by using the shopping cart for payment processing, once you’ve reviewed all of your accounts for bills to add to the shopping cart, will be processed through the City’s payment merchant, NCR, and a payment confirmation can be printed by or emailed to you upon completion of the payment process. Please contact the Finance Office at (518) 563-7704 with any property tax or utility bill questions or for payment assistance. Thank You
