Common Council Votes to Name New Proposed Parking Lot “Arnie Pavone Memorial Parking Plaza”

City Council voted to name proposed new parking lot at 25 Margaret St., the “Arnie Pavone Memorial Parking Plaza”, at the Regular Meeting of the Common Council on 5/9/19. Arnold “Arnie” Pavone and his restaurant Arnie’s  has been a fixture on Margaret St. since 1951.

Mayor Read commented, "After serving in the United States Navy, Arnie returned to Plattsburgh to open Arnie’s Restaurant. Since then, Arnie's has become a fixture in our downtown. It is a place to celebrate, to have first dates, and for friends to gather. It has remained when other businesses came and went. It is a fitting tribute to memorialize his contribution by dedicating the new parking facility across the street from Arnie's Restaurant."

After serving in the United States NAVY, Arnie returned to Plattsburgh to open Arnie’s Restaurant. His restaurant provided a place to enjoy authentic Italian family style cooking for our community. The quality of his food and service shows in that Mr. Pavone has won both the Businessman of the Year, and Restaurant Owner of the Year.

Mr. Pavone believed in both promoting and giving back to the Plattsburgh community, serving on the Plattsburgh Zoning Board, serving as President of Plattsburgh Bobsled club, and sponsoring many local sports clubs.
