Plattsburgh, N.Y.— The City of Plattsburgh, the Clinton County Advocacy & Resource Center and ADK Hard Cider invites you to join us on Saturday, March 11, 10a.m.-5p.m. for the Discover Plattsburgh/ADK Hard Cider Irish Parade & Festival to be held in the Durkee Street parking lot.
To kick things off, Fleet Feet will host the Shamrock Shuffle 5K which begins at 10a.m. on Durkee Street in Plattsburgh. The 5K route uses Durkee Street, Bridge Street, Jay Street, Club Road and US Oval. Wear your green running gear, leprechaun hats and bring your shillelagh's! Join us for the newest addition to this year’s Festival, the Irish Festival Parade at 11a.m. Clubs, organizations, neighborhoods, businesses or anyone wanting to show off their ‘Irish Pride’ are invited to register at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/irishparade. The parade will begin on Cumberland Avenue, to City Hall Place, left onto Bridge to end on Jay Street.
After the parade, head back to the Durkee Street lot by the Farmers Market Building for a day filled with activity, live music, dancing, crafters, food & more! ADK Hard Cider will be turning the Farmers Market building into the ADK Hard Cider Tavern. Adults 21+ will be able to enjoy local beer and cider while enjoying delicious Irish fare.
You won’t want to miss this year’s live music! At 1:30p.m. the Too Tall String Band perform traditional Irish pub tunes, & sing-alongs plus a number of traditional Celtic dance tunes performed on the hammered dulcimer, banjo, guitar, bodhran and mandolin. At 3p.m. get ready to dance with the Wagar Bros. bringing your favorite Irish rock & more! The Wagar Brothers are a local string band guided by Jon and Matt Wagar, a brotherly duo from the southern Adirondacks. Rounding out the cast are are Catherine Wurster, Austin Petrashune, and Ryan Casey, all North Country natives. With a mix of Irish songs (old and new), classic covers, and raucous originals, the Wagar Brothers are sure to leave no hearts unyielding.
Returning for the second year, the Clinton County ARC will entertain the younger Irish Festival attendees with the popular Downtown Plattsburgh Scavenger Hunt. Don’t miss the festive Champlain Valley Irish Dancers performance at 1p.m.
Don’t forget to pull out your finest Irish gear for March 11! Penair is giving two free round-trip tickets to Boston to be awarded to our ‘best-dressed’ attendee! We will announce the winner in the final hour of the Irish Festival.
PLEASE NOTE: The southern side of the Durkee Street parking lot (Farmers Market side) will be unavailable for parking beginning 3/10 at 8a.m. until the completion of the Irish Festival on 3/11.
